Portrait of Nicole Bourgault

Nicole Bourgault

Multidisciplinary art

Since childhood, I’ve been in contact with art. My father, Jean-Julien Bourgault, thought it was important that we spent time by his side in the workshop. Even though I could barely see the top of his workbench, I loved to observe my father and brothers in this sacred place.

Early on, I learned to shape the matter. Whether it is weaving, painting, sculpture, glassware, etc., I do not pressure myself to conceive “the great creation”. I try to find pleasure in each of the materials that I touch, following my instincts and moods.

My training is diverse: I’ve always been in contact with local artists and those from other places. I’ve attended Saint-Jean-Port-Joli’s École de la Sculpture, studied fashion design in Philadelphia and refined my painting skills with Albert Rousseau. I like to transmit my knowledge and I wish to stay aware of what’s happening in the artistic world, especially in contemporary art.
