I am interested in the links that human beings have with their territory. This questioning also concerns the relationships that are established between nature and culture, how they influence and nourish each other. If I favor the theme of space, the passage of time, inseparable from that of space, also challenges me and feeds my interest in history.
Through my works, I therefore offer a portrait of the natural and cultural landscape of Quebec understood in an expanded form: the rigorous character of the territories that are still wild and subject to the forces of the elements and the seasons, the luminous immensity of the St. Lawrence River and the beauty of certain inhabited areas.
Realism is my preferred way of communicating ideas and emotions. I want to produce strong, gestural images, whose compositional structure is simple, stripped down, while being visually striking.
