The artist
Nathalie Gagnon
Saint-Jean-Port-Joli

Based in Saint-Jean-Port-Joli, Nathalie Gagnon is a multidisciplinary artist and graphic designer. For more than 20 years, her career has led her to express herself mainly through the printed arts. She favors the composition of images through engraving and the use of wooden matrices that do not require any intervention. These manual techniques lead her to create in spontaneity, to improvise freely, between interventions and material constraints.
Her entirely handmade creations allow her to engage in a process without a screen, in reaction to the current electronic frenzy in which humans find themselves immersed in spite of themselves. Driven by a quest for balance, simplicity and meaning, the artist seeks that her works communicate the essential. Her images are revealed as imprints of the moment, in which one can find openness, light, rhythm, fluidity, stability, movement, anchoring and floating. Influenced by design, poetry and architecture, she draws her greatest inspirations from encounters, the relationship with the territory, nature and the living.
