Portrait de Ute wolff

The unconventional use of technologies and materials fascinates me. In an exploration of the possibilities that the textile material offers to my creation, I combine artisanal techniques with industrial technologies.

Obeying the very principle of creation which is to reinvent oneself and develop different plastic qualities, I open myself to discoveries by deliberately ignoring what a thing is supposed to be in order to appreciate it for what it is or becomes under my hands.

My favorite material is Tyvek. It is a paper-like textile that serves as my matrix. It resists perfectly to my multiple interventions.

Pursuing a hybrid practice between craft, art and design, I aspire to a contemporary and poetic interpretation. I invent textile landscapes and create lighting as well as utilitarian objects that meet a need for sensual and contemplative objects in this digital age.

My explorations seek to awaken a more intimate look at the material world with a view to greater affective durability.
