Portrait of Amélie Bourgault

Amélie Bourgault

Weaving

I a have been immersed in crafts since my childhood. My grandmother gifted me with all of her knowledge. When I create, I let myself be guided by my instincts. I like to improvise and let my imagination run free. Most of the time, I work without pattern. If I really need one, I prefer to conceive it myself. As an ecological concern, I prefer natural fibres and recycled materials. The result is always unique. I raise my own goats and alpacas, which allows me to control all the fleece transformation chain. It is demanding work that requires much patience, but it is also deeply rewarding!

I offer training on natural fibre transformation and demonstrations of my tools and techniques in my boutique: Mélie 4 poches. I am glad to have the chance to participate in Le Vivoir’s project allowing the public to discover this traditional art that I approach with a touch of modernity.
