Portrait of Maurice Harvey

Maurice Harvey

Sculpture

Originally from Saguenay, I settled in Saint-Jean-Port-Joli to practice sculpture. After studying at the École de sculpture, I started my sculpting career in 1965.

I shape stone to create life. It has been my favourite material for many years: limestone, alabaster, marble, granite. I’m also very familiar with wood, metal, snow and ice. I love to work with them and allow original sculptures to come to life.

Throughout the years, I have become a specialist in female sculptures, in which I strive to express feelings, sensitivity, femininity, sensuality… I am proud of the naked figures I create. They convey a very personal signature.

Many of my sculptures are displayed in front of Saint-Jean-Port-Joli’s public buildings. However, my artwork radiates far beyond our region’s boundaries.
