Description

Clément immerses us here in a world where everything is handmade. An authentic world that inspires us to reconnect with our roots. Clément's knives are reflected, created, assembled, refined and even hand-wrapped, with the audacity of this fascinating creator.

The artist uses a very particular technique, requiring equipment as well as very advanced technical knowledge in order to stabilize the wood by injecting a resin thereby giving an impressive strength to the wood which is then called "stabilized wood". He sometimes adds dyes to it, giving an original hue to the woods which still retain its fascinating grain.

The handle is then decorated with the knob and the brass guard. Next comes the cutting, shaping and polishing of the ATS-34 steel blade; steps also entirely done by Clément.

We end the process by creating the personalized vegetable leather case, also handmade.

Total length 9½ ''
Length of the knob 4½ ''
Blade length 5 '' x ~ 1¼ '' wide

Clément Pelletier

Saint-Jean-Port-Joli

Portrait of Clément Pelletier

I started my career following my passage at the Saint-Jean-Port-Joli Sculpture School in 1965.

For thirty years, I practiced the profession of woodcarver, participating in various exhibitions in Quebec and Ontario. At the same time, I took part in family activities at our Érablière Bois-Joli. I also created my company of unique sugar molds in Quebec. I consider myself a craftsman, that is, someone who designs and manufactures the objects he needs himself, combining beauty and functionality.

Sculptor, I have always worked with exceptionally sharp tools. From a young age, cutlery was very attractive to me. Hunting and fishing enthusiast, I made my first hunting knife when I was 14 from an old file. But it was only in 2010, following a meeting with a professional cutler, that I decided to embark on continuous production.
