Sandra Veillette

Born in Amos, Québec, I grew up surrounded by vast and abundant nature. At a young age, I would accompany my grandfather on long fishing trips where silence reigned. It was during those moments that I learned to observe nature and to cultivate patience—qualities that today are reflected in my art.My artistic world unfolds harmoniously through a renewed use of natural elements. For me, nature is not only an inexhaustible source of inspiration, but also the nursery that provides the raw materials from which I create my pieces.

Each artwork is the result of a long process that usually begins when a triggering element sparks my imagination. Often, it's a piece of wood whose unique shape suggests a moving body or an expressive posture. It may also embody a physical trait (long slender legs, tousled hair, etc.) that gives the character an extraordinary personality.

Other selected materials are then added and transformed to balance form, texture, and colour. Over the years, I have refined various assembly techniques to ensure the strength of each piece, while allowing for a harmonious integration of all components./p>

Each day, I devote myself to working and shaping natural materials with the aim of stirring the soul and touching the heart. I love creating for others—to see them surprised, moved, and fascinated by the beauty of the world around us.

Nature is what allows me to create endlessly and, strangely enough, it is what guides me to imagine new sculptures. I follow wherever my imagination takes me, led by nature’s hand.
