Painting
St-Georges
I try to introduce myself desperately between the dimensions of the visible and the invisible, hoping that the viewer also connects to these spaces of freedom and experiences unknown emotions and not just devotes himself to deciphering my intentions.
Joseph-Richard Veilleux, R.C.A., was born in 1948 in Saint-Georges-de-Beauce, Quebec. Having studied the History of Greek and Roman Art, as well as drawing and colour, he perfected his training in painting during an internship at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-arts in Paris in 1970. Six years later, he obtained his master’s degree in experimental psychology on experimental aesthetics at Université Laval. He has been exhibiting for over 40 years; his works are present in several private and public collections in Quebec, Canada, the United States and Europe. This recognition from the community earned him election as a member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts.
In 2012, Joseph-Richard Veilleux received the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal. In 2015, he was elected president of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts, the first Quebecer to hold this title since 1880.
