Portrait of the artist Sandra Veillette

Born in Amos, Quebec, I grew up in a rich and immense nature. Very young, I accompanied my grandfather on long fishing trips during which silence was required. I have then learned to observe nature and cultivate my patience, qualities which today shine through in my art. My artistic universe unfolds harmoniously in a new use of natural elements. For me, this is not only a source inexhaustible inspiration, but also the nursery which supplies the raw materials from which I create my works. Each work is the fruit of a long work which begins usually when a trigger awakens my imagination. It is often a piece of wood whose singular shape evokes a body in movement or a particularly expressive posture. He can also embody a physical characteristic (long slender legs, tousled hair, etc.) which gives the character an unusual personality. Added to this central element are other materials chosen and then transformed in order to balance shapes, textures and colors. Different assembly techniques refined over the years ensure the solidity of the work while allowing a harmonious marriage between the elements that compose it. I strive daily to work and shape natural materials to awaken our souls and make our hearts vibrate. I love creating for people, to see them amazed and fascinated by the beauty of the world around us. It is nature which allows me to create endlessly and which dictates to me, strangely, new sculptures. I go where my imagination takes me and where nature guides me.

Upkeep

Although Sandra Veillette's sculptures may seem fragile, they are in reality much more resistant than one might believe. To dust them, simply use a gently damp cloth!
