Portrait of the hydrographic painter Julie Lafaille

Since always, art has enveloped me, calling me to discover a fascinating world of colors and shapes. As a child, I would lose myself in art books, where each project was an open door to a new creative adventure. Self-taught, I enjoyed developing my own techniques, from faux-stained glass to mixed media, which I later shared under the name Des idées plein la tête. Creation, for me, is a language, a way to express what drives me and to convey an emotion.

The art of painting on water appeared to me as a revelation, an almost mystical experience. Watching colors float and intertwine on the surface of the water is a dance where each movement is unpredictable, and every result is a surprise. There is something deeply magical in this interaction between the material and the color, something alive, something organic. It is in this letting go that I find my greatest freedom, and each piece becomes unique, full of character.

Through my creations, I strive to explore new horizons, working with various supports like wood, paper, and silk. My silk scarves, for example, are wearable canvases, each piece carrying its own universe. They are an invitation to travel through color, form, and texture. My art thus becomes a bridge between the tangible and the imaginary, a way to capture the beauty of the moment and make it accessible to all.

Upkeep

This scarf is hand-painted using a traditional artisanal technique. Although it is durable, it requires delicate care to maintain its beauty. It is recommended to hand wash it in cold water with a mild soap. For drying, hang it to air dry. Iron on a medium heat setting.

Creation process

This beautiful silk scarf was created using the ancient technique of hydrography, also known as Ebru. This unique method involves creating patterns directly on a water surface before transferring them onto a 100% high-quality silk scarf. Each piece is an original work of art, and there is only one scarf like this in the world.
